FABIAN

He only uses one name…it’s all he needs. Discovered at 15, he had no showbiz aspirations, but his dad had health problems and the family needed the money. Fabian had the right look…and after a few singing lessons, a good enough voice to make hit records like I’m a Man, Tiger and Hound Dog Man and win the Silver Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist of 1958, although he was hard to hear over all the screaming girls. He joined other performers on tour with Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars before buying out his recording contract at 18. Fabian then launched his movie career, starring in films from Ride the Wild Surf and Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs to North to Alaska (with John Wayne) and High Time (with Bing Crosby). After a career in film and TV, he reunited with fellow South Philly teen idols Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell, touring as The Golden Boys of Bandstand (later changed to “The Golden Boys”).

He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, talent agent Andrea Patrick.
